Scale modelling - the domain of the "real" builder. With the rise of the ARF and RTF models the scale scratch built models have all but phased out of mainstream RC. The rebel flying club still contains a number of dedicated modellers to the art of building beautiful scratch built models. For many members though, taking a base ARF model and improving upon it produces a suitable scale model.

Scale models can be electric, glow or petrol powered depending on the size.
